The slope constants of the e:xcitational cross-section for atom-atom and atom-elec-tron collisions were generally considered and that f or the oxygen atom-atom collision.s'. . was determined to be 3. 14 X 10 " cm'/eV. Using the newly determined value ofS.-., the calculation of the ionizing shock structure of argon-oxygen mixture was madeat shock Mach number M,=17.I and the initial pressure P,=2.85Torr. From thecomparison of the calculated value of relaxation length with the experimental one, itwas proved that the experimental result can be explained well by the present deter-mined value of .s'. ..
