Development of Surface Potential on the Fresh Surface of NaCl Crystals

Evolution of the surface potential is calculated for NaCl crystals both in the intrinsic and in the extrinsic ranges. It is shown that its time constant is apporoximately given by the time for the faster species to move the Debye length by diffusion and the contribution of the slower species is negligible.
