It is possible to estimate approximately the binding energy between a second solute atom and a vacancy from the cbange of the time t_M required to reach maximum resistance in isothermal aging curves of Al-Zn_X ternary alloys only when Zn atoms do not interact with a second solute atom ^<(1)(2)>,and we are now studying several Al-Zn base alloys. The binding energy between a Cu atom and a vacancy was estimated to be 0.2 eV in Al-Cu binary alloys by Kimura, Kimura and Hasiguti^<(3)>, but that between a Ag atom and a vacancy was not studied. Westmacott et al.^<(4)> proposed a series of binding energy between a solute atom and a vacancy in Al-binary alloys to be Z<Cu<Ag<Mg<Si from the observation with electron microscope. The binding energy between a Zn atom and a vacancy was estimated to be 〜0.06eV by Panseri and Federighi^<(5)>.
