Influence of Screw Dislocations on the de Haas-van Alphen Signals from Neck Region of Fermi Surface

The deformation operator is derived for electrons near the zone boundary in a simple cubic crystal which includes a screw dislocation. The Schrodinger equation for those electrons has the form of the Aharonov-Bohm equation, in which the influence of the screw dislocation is represented by a curl-free vector potential. In the presence of a magnetic field, cyclotron orbits trapped by the screw dislocation have energy levels which are located in the middle of the usual Landau levels. They are possibly observed at low temperatures as new cusps in the de Haas-van Alphen signal.
