The longitudinal correlation function for the Heisenberg ferromagnet with the single-ion uniaxial anisotropy is derived from generating Green functions obtained in the random phase approximation. To obtain the result available to any values of the anisotropy constant D a method without decoupling is developed for treatment of the higher-order Green functions associated with the anisotropy, then differential equations to determine the generating Green functions and the correlation function are lead. The correlation function actually obtained for S=1 is investigated in detail in the paramagnetic range of temperature and shown that it can be expressed in terms of the susceptibility in the form which does not involve D explicitly for small and large values of D.
