The generalized Altarelli-Parisi equations for the full fragmentation functions of partons are solved within the LLA. The analysis of the average transverse momentum <k_T>_Z of hadrons produced inside a jet in e^+e^- annihilation shows that the LLA calculations of QCD give satisfactory description of the data if we take into account correctly the kinematical restrictions to the evolution of jets. Discussions on the use of the LLA in the phenomenological analyses are also given.
