Variation principles in a form of maximization are presented in the quantum theory of linear as well as nonlinear transport processes occurring in a many-body system in the absence of a magnetic field. The revised form of the quantum variation principle is related to the rate of change of entropy production, rather than the entropy production. We will see that the proposed variation principles dovetail perfectly with the Glansdorff-Prigogine theory of thermodynamics.
