On the Problem of Heating in the Response Theory

We address ourselves to the problem of treating Joule heat generated by appliedfields. We go beyond the existing theories by developing a microscopic theory of cooling mechanism. This is done through a quantum mechanical reservoir model. Explicitexpressions are given for the heat flux and the entropy production. It is shown thatthe cooling mechanism, which carries away the heat generated, can be realized by anelectron-phonon interaction.
