The dynamical interplay between the pairing and quadruple correlations is investigated within the framework of a two-level shell model, which treats both correlations on the same footing. An harmonic effects in the vicinity of the chemical potential are discussed and the importance of the pairing degrees of freedom for reproducing the side-band structure based on the anomalously low-lying collective 0^ state is stressed.
