Remark on the Kinetic Equation in an Unstable Plasma

The kinetic equation in the inhomogeneous plasma is investigated for weakly stable and unstable cases according to the B-B-G-K-Y method to clarify the interrelation of the existing theories. With consideration for the initial value problem, the equation of motion for the spacially uniform one particle velocity distribution function is expressed by means of the collision terms between particles and collective motions, i. e. the optical and the acoustical modes in an electron-ion system. Generally, in the inhomogeneous system, it is necessary to take account of both the Vlasov term and the two particle correlation term for the collision terms. If the R. P. A. is adopted, it is seen that the collision terms are a simple sum of each result in two independent approaches, that is, one is the result in the quasi-linear theory for the Vlasov term, the other the correlation effect in the homogeneous plasma. Comparison of the calculation with the Pines-Schrieffer approach is made lastly.
