Electromagnetic Structure of the Nucleon and Vector Mesons

A model for nucleon structure is proposed in which the contribution from one more isoscalar vector meson in addition to those of ρ and ω mesons is taken into account. The analysis of it by means of least square method proves that the three pole formulae for the nucleon form factor based on this model give more excellent fit for the experimental data than the two pole formulae with only ρ and ω mesons. This fact suggests the existence of another isoscalar particle interacting strongly with the nucleon. It might be identified with the ψ meson. Calculation of the electromagnetic radii of nucleon from the best fitting parameters to nucleon form factors results in <(r_1)_p^2>^<1/2>=(0.80±0.02)F, <(r_2)_p^2>^<1/2>=(0.83±0.01)F, and <(r_2)_n^2>^<1/2>=(0.67±0.01)F. The charge clouds of the proton and the neutron indicate characteristic spatial behaviors in this model. The relations among various renormalized coupling constants of the vector mesons to the nucleon are also numerically discussed and γ_<ωNN>/μ_<ωNN>sime1.5,γ_<XNN>/μ_<XNN>sime1.4 and γ_<pNN>/μ_<pNN>sime0.3 are obtained.
