The effects of the inelastic scattering in the initial and final states on direct nuclear reactions such as (d, p) reactions, are investigated in terms of the dispersion theoretical method. The integral equation for the reaction amplitude is derived and the explicit solution thereof is given. It is assumed that the elastic and the inelastic scattering amplitudes can be written in the form ND^<-1>.
