Selection Rules Imposed by the Symmetrical Quark Model

In this note we discuss selection rules for strangeness nonzero systems based on a symmetrical quark model, because of the conservation of G_<ds>(G_<us>) parity, where G_<ds> is defined by (exchange of d and s) × (charge conjugation) and G_<us> is defined by (exchange of u and s) × (charge conjugation). These selection rules are applied to the processes such as boson decays, Σ^^-^+p annihilation, Ξ^^-p annihilation, Λ^^-′+Λ′→K_1^0+K_2^0, etc. Some processes are useful for checking the symmetrical quark model (SU(3)).
