Shell-Model Calculation of α-Transfer Form Factors and α-Widths

A method of calculating α-transfer form factors and α-widths with shell-model wave functions is presented and applied to the α-pick-up and the α-stripping on ^<a>O leading to the so-called ground-state rotational bands of ^<12>C and ^<20>Ne, respectively. In the case of ^<20>Ne, the DWBA analyses of (^<6>Li,d) reactions and the observed α-widths seem to indicate that the shell model with (sd)^4 configuration does not sufficiently describe the α-clusterization of this nucleus, and it is necessary to introduce an additional α-like correlation due to the mixing of higher configurations.
