The proper time formulation of the N-point Veneziano amplitude is generalized to replace the vertex function with an external scalar field in Miyamoto's proper time equation by the general vertex function. Miyamoto's field is quantized, and N-point Veneziano amplitudes with general vertices are derived. In the multi-peripheral configuration, our formulation is essentially equivalent to that of Miyamoto.
