Accretion of matter by a white dwarf with a strong magnetic field is studied as a model for X-ray sources such as SCO X-1. A magneto-bounding surface is formed by the interaction of the stellar magnetic field with infalling matter. Accreted matter on the magneto-bounding surface flows along the surface toward the magnetic poles and generates hot spots on the stellar surface. X-rays are emitted both from the magneto-bounding surface and from hot spots. The model of this type can account for the observed nature of SCO X-1, if its X-ray luminosity is smaller than 2×10^<36>erg/sec.
