The episodic accretion of gas onto the magnetopause of a magnetic neutron star is examined numerically for three different initial distributions and velocities of the accreting gas. The dynamical and thermal structure of the γ-ray emission zone on the magnetopause is determined and the time profile of emergent γ-rays is calculated. The possible relevance of the model calculations and observations of cosmic γ-ray bursts is discussed. In order to reconcile the model calculations with observations, however, it is needed that burst sources are located at distances 10〜20 pc.
