In this paper, a method for reducing capacitance ratios in switched-capacitor circuits is proposed for reducing chip size. In conventional methods, the charge in a capacitor is split among several capacitors, and small capacitance is realized equivalently. Consequently, the capacitance ratios can be reduced. However, the conventional switched-capacitor circuits have disadvantage to be highly sensitive to parasitic capacitances. In this paper, we propose a novel charge split circuit which compensates the effects of parasitic capacitances. The proposed method is effective in implementing filter transfer functions with small coefficient values. As an example, the proposed method is applied for implementing FIR type filters with a parallel cyclic type circuit. This results in that the capacitance ratios can be reduced and the filter performance cannot be deteriorated by parasitic capacitances.
