The saturation time of the intracavity absorption spectroscopy of a multimode unidirectional traveling-wave ring dye laser was increased to 12.5 ms by reducing the intracavity loss. The absorption coefficient of water vapor lines of $10^{-9}$ cm-1 was measured with a sensitivity of $5 \times 10^{-11}$ cm-1.
