Crystal Growth, Structure Analysis, and Second-Order Nonlinear Optical Properties of 4-Cyanophenyl p-Anisate with Transparency in Visible Region

Single crystals of 4-cyanophenyl p-anisate (CPA), an organic nonlinear optical material, have been prepared. The crystal structure of CPA has been determined and found to belongs to the non-centrosymmetric space group $P2_{1}2_{1}2_{1}$. The second-order nonlinear optical coefficient ($d$) was estimated using the oriented gas model with the crystal structure, and the $d_{14}$ of CPA was obtained to be 26 pm/V.
