The possibility of laser-addressing a new full color recording material, that is, a solid film of a medium-molecular weight cholesteric compound, was investigated. A red image was clearly recorded on the blue background by laser-heating using CO_2 laser followed by natural cooling. By increasing the laser power, the fixed color is changed from red to yellow and then to blue. A resolution of about 500 μm, that should depend on the profile of the laser beam, was obtained after 1 s of recording time.
