This paper presents parallel arrays of nanoband electrode, nano stripe electrode, made of pyrolyzed polymer for high signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio electrochemical detectors. Nanoelectrode arrays have been attracted as high performance electrochemical detectors for chemical and bio sensing. Carbon materials are useful as electrochemical electrodes since they have reasonable conductivity, electrochemical stabilities and biocompatibility. We have successfully fabricated the nano stripe electrode made of pyrolyzed polymer carbon through polymer nano patterning and a succeeding thermal decomposition process as the top-down fabrication approach. The width of the individual nanoelectrode and the center-to-center separations were 450 nm and 15 μm, respectively. Potential-step chronoamperometry are employed to characterize S/N ratio advantages of the nano stripe electrode. The nano stripe electrode could achieve 26.8 times higher S/N ratio than that of a planar electrode having the same corresponding area size.
