The change of fission product (FP) yields from the n+235U reaction for different incident neutron energies was analyzed by the selective channel scission (SCS) model. Gaining a complete understanding of why FP yields from the n+235U reaction have two peaks has been difficult. However, by considering proper channel-dependent fission barriers including the tunnel fission effect, FP yields for thermal and 1 MeV neutron-induced fissions of 235U were analyzed. The incident neutron energy dependence of FP yields for 235U was understood consistently. Then, we compared the SCS model with the multimodal random-neck rupture model that is conventionally used to explain the characteristics of fission successfully and phenomenologically.
