Crystal Structure and Thermal Conductivity of Gd3(Ga1-xAlx)5O12 Garnets

Single crystals of Gd3(Ga1-xAlx)5O12 garnets with $x{=}0.0$, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 have been grown using the Czochralski method. Crystal structure analysis and thermal conductivity measurement have been performed. Aluminum ions tend to occupy the 16a site with gadolinium ions; the ions are distributed randomly even when $x$ is 0.4. The thermal conductivity is changed with an increase in the $x$, which is affected by the distribution randomness of the crystal structure.
