Preparation and Photoconductive Property of Electrophoretically Deposited Film of Quinacridone Nanoparticles Prepared by Laser Ablation in Water

We prepared quinacridone (QA) nanoparticles with a mean size of 70 nm by nanosecond laser ablation of their microcrystalline powder dispersed in water, and assembled the nanoparticle colloid into a thin film on an electrode by electrophoretic deposition (EPD). The EPD film consists of closely packed QA nanoparticles and shows a photoconductive response similar to the conventional organic films by vacuum deposition. The present fabrication technique is expected to be applied to the preparation of organic nanostructure using nanoparticles as building block for novel electronic and optoelectronic device application.
