Ylide-gold complexes of the type triphenylphosphine(triphenylphosphonium alkylide)gold(I) chloride, (<U>Remark: Graphics omitted.</U>), and bis(triphenylphosphonium alkylide)gold(I) chloride, (<U>Remark: Graphics omitted.</U>), have been obtained from alkylidene triphenylphosphoranes, Ph<SUB>3</SUB>P=CH–R (R: H, CH<SUB>3</SUB>, CH(CH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>2</SUB>), and (triphenylphosphine)gold(I) chloride, Ph<SUB>3</SUB>PAuCl. Bis(triphenylarsonium methylide)gold(I) chloride, [Ph<SUB>3</SUB>AsCH<SUB>2</SUB>–Au–CH<SUB>2</SUB>AsPh<SUB>3</SUB>]Cl, has been synthesized from methylenetriphenylarsorane and Ph<SUB>3</SUB>PAuCl. In these organogold complexes, the ylides are attached to the gold atom through the carbanionic donor atom. The <SUP>1</SUP>H-NMR spectra of [Ph<SUB>3</SUB>PCH<SUB>2</SUB>–Au–PPh<SUB>3</SUB>]Cl indicates an intermolecular exchange process in the temperature range +25–−50 °C.
