Several green paramagnetic 5-nitrosalicylato(quadridentate amine)cobalt(III) chloride nitrate hydrates, [Co(5-NO<SUB>2</SUB>sal)L]Cl·NO<SUB>3</SUB>·<I>n</I>H<SUB>2</SUB>O (L: 2,3,2-tet, 3,2,3-tet, and 3,3,3-tet) and the corresponding orange diamagnetic nitrate hydrates, [Co(5-NO<SUB>2</SUB>sal)L]NO<SUB>3</SUB>·<I>n</I>H<SUB>2</SUB>O, have been isolated and characterized by analytical, spectroscopic, and magnetic methods.
