Co<SUB>2</SUB>(CO)<SUB>8</SUB>-organic amine system was found to be an effective catalyst for the production of alkoxyacetic ester from formaldehyde dialkyl acetals and CO; this is the first example of homogeneous hydroesterification of acetal.
