The 2-styrylbenzo[<I>a</I>]quinolizinium salt was photocyclized to afford 12a-azoniabenzo[<I>ghi</I>]perylene salt in 66% yield. The 2a-azoniabenzo[<I>a</I>]coronene salt was obtained by the photocyclization of 2-[2-(4-biphenylyl)vinyl]benzo[<I>a</I>]-quinolizinium salt and 2-styryl-10-phenylbenzo[<I>a</I>]quinolizinium salt in 80% and 75% yields, respectively.
