It was found that the reactions of potassium salts of aromatic thio acid with chlorotrimethylsilane gave the corresponding thionoacyloxysilanes [ArC(S)OSi(CH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB>]. On the other hand, the reactions with chlorotrimethylgermanes or -stannane gave the corresponding thiol esters [ArC(O)SM(CH<SUB>3</SUB>)<SUB>3</SUB>, M: Ge, or Sn] containing the sulfur-metal (IVb) linkage in almost quantitative yields.
