The tautomeric constants <I>K</I><SUB>t</SUB> of several 4-pyridinethiones were determined by measurement of p<I>K</I><SUB>a</SUB> values. For 2-substituted 5-methoxy-4-pyridinethiones, the <I>K</I><SUB>t</SUB> values are correlated to the substituent constants σ, by the equation log<I>K</I><SUB>t</SUB>=4.00+3.99σ<I><SUB>m</SUB></I>−7.33σ<SUB>0</SUB>.
