As a possible biological standard reference material for metal analysis, shark powder has been prepared from the muscle of sharks (<I>Squalus mitsukurii</I>) and compared with shark paste which was prepared from the same raw material adopting the procedure of Japanese fish paste production. With respect to the homogeneity of metal contents and to the stability during storage, both samples were found to be similar.
