• The effects of calcium-antagonist Diltiazem (Herbesser) on the local Pb-acetate induced calcergy in young female rats have been investigated.The calcium deposition was confirmed by the Soft X-ray, the light microscopy of Von-Kossa, HE stain and the elementary analysis. To quantitate the calcification, microdesitometry, PCPA (Polychromatic Photon Absorptiometry) and atomic absorption spectrophotometry were used.It was found that Diltiazem with doses over 5mg/kg, BID, inhibited the hydroxyapatite crystal deposition significantly in the dose dependent manner.
