The control study of the moving 2-point discrimination test in the normal hand.

The several tests have been employed for the evaluation of the sensory function in the hand. We believe that the moving two point discrimination test is the most reliable test and also that decreasing of its value can prospect recovery of the sensory function. In this paper, a control study of the moving two point discrimination in the normal hand was reported and the results were analysed statistically.The conventional paper clip was moved on the finger tip with adequate speed and compression, while each examined individual was blind-holded. The value of m2PD was recorded when each individual could discriminate the two points by making correct two answers out of three.The mean value of m2PD was around 2.2mm to 2.6mm without statistical difference between the thumb and other fingers. Significant factors in determining the value of m-2PD were sex, age and occupations.
