Diagnostic and therapeutic problems of three soft tissue sarcomas with mucin product.

We experienced 3 soft tissue sarcomas with mucin product. Two cases were myxoid type of malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) and one biphasic type of synovial sarcoma (SVS) having an apparent transition into monophasic fibrous type in local recurrence. In MFH one patient is free of disease 3 months after limb salvage surgery with wide margin for tumor located in the right scapular region and another one died of metastatic lesion 15 months after inadequate surgery with intralesional margin because of old age of 95 years and huge bulgy mass occupied left in the entire thigh. One patient with SVS had the recurred tumor at the right antecubital area 2 months after simple resection based on the misdiagnosis of ganglion because of aspirated synoviallike fluid and is free of disease 11 months after additional limb sparing surgery with wide margin for recurred tumor.When we encountered such a mucious producible tumors, we should select a more appropriate biposy site with imaging diagnostic techniques and choose a radical surgery for these sarcomas.
