• We report a case of calcification of the transverse ligament of the Atlas. The case was an 82 year-old man. Paresthesia and paralysis of bilateral lower extremities had gradually progressed since 7 years previously and he had lost his walking ability 2 years before. MRI and CT showed calcification of the transverse ligament of the Atlas and compression of the cervical cord. He underwent surgery (postrerior decompression) and his paralysis gradually improved so that now he can walk with a cane. This is a very rare case and early diagnosis is most important.
