Variations in the warp letting-off length and transient response of the warp tension . We have measured a transient response of warp tension in the knitting process of a tricot machine to the warp let off length which is varied as a unit step or a triangular pulse. Using the results of the measurement, we have investingated the general relations between the warp let off length and the transient tension. The relations between the transient value of a maximum tension during one course knitting and the difference between the letting-off length and the taking-up length of the warp yarn in the unit time are approximately represented by a linear operator G(P)=E⁄(1+T P) where T is a time constant. The variations in the value of time constant depending on running speed of the machine and the condition of input force have been experimentally studied.
