Drug sensitivities of three BLM-resistant cells, HeLa-BLMr, KB-BLMr and Hepd-uvBLMr, to eights other antitumor agents were examined. When ID<SUB>50</SUB> of each agent for these cells and their parental cells was determined from the survival curves, HeLa-BLMr cells were 10.7-fold less sensitive to pepleomycin (PEP), 2.7-fold to actinomycin D (ACD), 3.8-fold to adriamycin (ADM) and 2.0-fold to vincristine (VCR), but 3.1-fold more sensitive to cisplatin (CPDD) than HeLa cells. Similarly, KB-BLMr cells were 12-fold less sensitive to PEP, 2.0-fold to 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and 2.1-fold to methotrexate (MTX) than KB cells. Hepd-uvBLMr cells were 45-fold less sensitive to PEP, 10-fold to ACD, 2.4-fold to ADM, 12.8-fold to 5-FU and 4.7-fold to MTX than Hepd cells.<BR>From these results, it was suggested that HeLa-BLMr cells carried cross-resistance to 4 drugs, KB-BLMr cells to 3 drugs and Hepd-uvBLMr cells to 5 drugs, judging by more than 2-fold degrees of resistance.
