Clinico-statistical observations of 10 years survival cases of maxillo-oral malignant tumor in our clinic.

114 patients with maxillo-oral malignant tumor visited our clinic during the period from 1952 to 1972, and 18 cases among them (15.8%) survived for 10 years or more. This paper described the clinical and statistical data on these survived cases, including age, type and location of the tumor. TNM classification, treatment methods and prognosis. The results were as follows: 1) This type of tumor were more common in males than in females and developed frequently in 50-59-years-old patients. 2) The primary site of tumor was predominantly in the maxilla and mandibular, initially appearing as a type of ulcer in most cases. 3) Histopathological examination showed that most of these tumors were of squamous carcinoma. 4) According to TNM classification, T 4 cases were most frequently encountered. 5) 7 cases were cured with radiotherapy and additional 6 cases were cured with surgical intervention plus radiotherapy. 6) Radiotherapy was mainly performed in T 1-T 3 cases, while surgical intervention mainly given in T 4 cases, combining radiotherapy or chemotherapy lissome cases.
