The method proposed in the preceding report for iron and steels was applied for the determination of arsenic in nonferrous metals and their alloys with several preliminary treatments as follows. Copper and its alloys were dissolved into aqua regia and concentrated to expel the nitric acid. Arsenic were extracted from hydrochloric and perchloric acid mixture as in the case of ferrous metals.<BR>In the case of tin and antimony, it was necessary to avoid a volatilization loss of arsenic during the concentration, and for this purpose, 0.10.2g of copper was added when the sample was decomposed by aqua regia. The concentration of arsenic in lead metal was done before the extraction with manganese dioxide coprecipitation. The application of the method failed when the alloy contained large amounts of tin and lead simultaneously.
