Batch distribution coefficients, K<SUB><I>d</I></SUB>, of <SUP>68</SUP>Ge and <SUP>68</SUP>Ga on various kinds of alumina were determined at various concentrations of several chelating agents including lactic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, NTA, GEDTA, EDTA, DTPA and CyDTA. EDTA, DTPA and CyDTA were found to have favorable K<SUB><I>d</I></SUB> values for the separation of the two radioactive nuclides.<BR>Although the K<SUB><I>d</I></SUB> values of <SUP>68</SUP>Ge were generally high and independent on the pre-treatment or on the kinds of alumina, those of <SUP>68</SUP>Ga were dependent greatly on the pre-treatment and the adsorption characteristics of alumina. The K<SUB><I>d</I></SUB> values of <SUP> 68</SUP>Ga on the untreated- or basic-alumina were almost zero, regardless of the variation in the concentration of the chelating agents. However, the K<SUB><I>d</I></SUB> values of <SUP>68</SUP>Ga on the hydrochloric acid treated-, acidic- or neutral-alumina increased with a decrease of the concentration of chelating agents. The K<SUB><I>d</I></SUB> values of the both nuclides for DTPA or CyDTA solutions were similar to those for EDTA solution.<BR>It was found from the column chromatographic study that <SUP> 68</SUP>Ga could be eluted in 20m<I>l</I> of the eluate (5×10<SUP>-3</SUP><I>M</I> EDTA) from <SUP> 68</SUP>Ge-<SUP>68</SUP>Ga without any strict control of the elution rate.
