Sinapyl alcohol was confirmed as a major product of trimethylsilyl iodide (TMSiI) treatment of syringyl β-O-4 lignin model compound. In this study, contribution of syringyl β-O-4 linkage in different lignin preparations was investigated by comparing the yields of sinapyl alcohol obtained by TMSiI treatment. Milled wood lignin (MWL) produced lower yield of sinapyl alcohol than periodate lignin of birch wood chip, suggesting that MWL was a special part of whole lignin. Periodate lignin of wood fiber was confirmed to be rich in syringyl β-O-4 because it gave higher yield of sinapyl alcohol than periodate lignin obtain from whole wood.シリンギル,β-O-4型リグニンモデル化合物のトリメチルシリルアイオダイド(TMSiI)処理において,シナピルアルコールが主要生成物であることが確認された。TMSiI処理によるシナピルアルコールの収率を比較することにより,さまざまなリグニン中のシリンギルβ-O-4結合の寄与について検討した。一般的な単離リグニンである磨砕リグニン(MWL)は,過ヨウ素酸リグニンに比べシナピルアルコールの収率が低く,特別なリグニンであるということが示唆された。また,木繊維の過ヨウ素酸リグニンは木材全体の過ヨウ素酸リグニンに比べシナピルアルコールの収率が高く,よりシリンギルβ-O-4の多いリグニンであるということが示唆される結果となった。
