Thalifaurine (7), a pseudoprotoberberine type alkaloids, was isolated from the the rhizomes of Coptis quinquefolia (Ranunculaceae). This type of compound was isolated for the first time from the Coptis genus. It is interesting from a chemotaxonomic point of view.
