Laboratory Culture of the Myxomycete Didymium squamulosum and its Production of Clionasterol

The plasmodium of the myxomycete Didymium squamulosum, which was derived from field collected spores, was cultured in a laboratory on an oatmeal agar plates. From the cultured organisms, clionasterol (=24-epi-β-sitosterol) was isolated and identified by spectral data.
