Video multicast over wireless is an important research topic given the ubiquity of multimedia mobile devices. It is challenging because of the unavoidable packet loss in the wireless network due to the well-known NAK implosion problem. One solution is cooperative strategy, leveraging on the 'uncorrleatedness' of the multiple wireless channels and use the neighboring peers' packets to do the recovery through a secondary network such as the WLAN when the primary network doesn't work (local recovery). Given a encoded MultiView content at the server, in an interactive MultiView video streaming (IMVS) scenario, a viewer can interactively switch views by re-subscribing to different WWAN multicast channels streaming different time-synchronized views. For the MultiView over the wireless, the challenge is first, we need to provide timely view-switching mechanism, so that client can switch to a view of interest quickly, second is that how to do the cooperative repair of the MultiView since the cooperative strategy for the single view case is not available. In this paper, we propose to use the Distributed Source Coding (DSC), a new compression tool in the video coding, to solve both of the problems. Each DSC frame is encoded with a set of predictor frames, and correct decoding only requires one of the predictors to be correctly decoding, and by processing multiple predictors we can switch from one view to another at the DSC frame boundary with the periodic insertion of the DSC frame into the frame sequence. Experimental results shows that our result outperform a structure using I-frame instead for view switching by up to 9dB in video quality in typical WWAN network loss environment.
