This paper shows the wear properties of carbon nanotube films made by surface decomposition of SiC. We carried out nanoscratch tests by using an atomic force microscope. The experimental results showed wear behaviors of CNT films depended on CNT length. And CNT films were worn gradually as wear cycles increased. The dependence on CNT length was caused by difference of elastic property of CNT films with different CNT lengths. These results are important for using CNT films as friction materials.
