• The measurement of the phydique was made in normal males ranging in age from 25 to 55 who were indigenous to Matsuoka-mura, Chiba Prefecture. The investigation revealed the following results : The stature being 160.03 ± 0.46 cm., the men under investigation belonged to the medium height group, though the majority of them were those who are to be classified as short according to the standards of classification of stature. They were smaller in the breadth of the shoulders than their counterparts in other regions. In the length of the skull, they were smaller than their counterparts in Tohoku District, and larger than their counterparts in Kansai District. In the breadth of the skull, they were larger than their counterparts in other regions. Having the cephalic index 82.26 ± 0.27, they were brachycephalic, but showed a tendency to be mesocephalic.
