Computerized risk assessment for having glaucoma was attempted by use of the patients' clinical data obtained in the screening study in Tajimi, Japan. This study included 762 subjects with signs of glaucoma and 762age matched subjects without glaucoma noted by an expert ophthalmologist. These subjects were divided into the training and test sets. An artificial neural network was employed for the risk determination. The preliminary result by a cross-validation test method within the training set indicates that the computer estimate may be useful for the determination of glaucoma risk.
