The purpose of this paper is to present a final report on introducing extensive reading program into thebasic English class at Hakodate National College of Technology. This program is now being conducted forboth improving students' reading ability and investigating how the students' motivation for reading has beendeveloped by their extensive reading activity for about one year through a questionnaire survey. The resultsof the questionnaires may reveal that this approach has promoted the students' interests for reading texts muchmore than before.
