4×4 Mach-Zehnder Demultiplexer Using Multi-Mode Interference Couplers in InP/InGaAsP : Optics and Quantum Electronics

A 4×4 wavelength demultiplexer using multimode interference (MMI) couplers was successfully demonstrated in InP/InGaAsP. Optical transmission characteristics were measured for each input/output for transverse magnetic mode. The wavelength spacing between channels is 1.6 nm, at the center wavelength 1.53 μm, and the optical crosstalk were well below -16 dB for all input/output channels in 4×4 demultiplexer.
